Weddings with the wow factor – Jota and Carmen marry on Lanzarote
Some weddings are low key, others are full of drama, some are calm and contemplative and others are high energy and upbeat. When Jota and Carmen decided to wed, their ceremony, on Lanzarote was about as thrilling as it could get. Working as a Lanzarote wedding photographer doesn’t get any more exciting than this!
Photographing a high energy wedding
One of the keys to successful wedding photographs is working with the mood of the wedding day. For Jota and Carmen’s dramatic wedding ceremony, I partnered with a good friend and great photographer Alejandro Diaz, shooting as a team to capture every moment of this carefully choreographed wedding day.
The photographs that made it into their stunning wedding album all have the same key features: they combine a sense of intimacy with a focus on the landscape of La Geria, a volcanic region of Lanzarote which makes a phenomenal backdrop to their special day.
The wedding day shoot began with a traditional wedding portfolio focus on the bride and groom preparing for their wedding ceremony. Jota’s groomsmen made a merry band of cool dudes, while Carmen’s elegant gown and beautiful wedding bouquet were delicately captured in a blend of colour and black and white shots. This is one of the most emotional points of any wedding, as we see the tender feelings of each partner as they get ready to join their lives together forever.
Open air wedding photography
From there we moved to the formal portion of the day, which included Carmen arriving for her wedding ceremony on a camel! We had to be careful about shooting inside the church, to balance our desire to get the best possible photographs with sensitivity to the spiritual nature of the ceremony. Finally we moved outdoors again for the party: cocktails and laughter, dancing and fireworks – a bravura end to this intense and exceptional wedding day.
